CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Organizers are actively working to encourage voter turnout as in-person early voting begins in North Carolina. A gathering took place on Thursday in northwest Charlotte, organized by Bishop William Barber II’s Love Forward Together Voter Mobilization Initiative, marking a ‘March to the Polls’.
The initiative includes outreach efforts such as text messaging, phone banks, and door-to-door canvassing to inform voters. Dr. Hannah R. Broome emphasized the importance of clarity, stating, ‘In this state, the rules keep changing and confusion is its own kind of suppression. When people aren’t sure of the rules, some of them stay home. We are here to interrupt the confusion.’ Similar marches are also occurring in other cities across the state, including Raleigh and Winston-Salem.
